Ameritech Acquires Tele Danmark Shares From the Danish State
COPENHAGEN, Denmark--Tele Danmark A/S (NYSE: TLD), the Danish telecommunications services group, today announced that Tele Danmark has been informed that Ameritech Luxembourg S.a.r.l., Rue de la Chapelle, L-1325 Luxembourg (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ameritech Corporation, Chicago, USA) has acquired 4,500,000 A shares in Tele Danmark A/S from the Danish state, corresponding to 34.4% of the share capital and votes.
The acquisition corresponds with previously published plans for a strategic partnership between Tele Danmark and Ameritech, cf. the Company's release No. 156 of October 27, 1997 and Release No. 158 of December 22, 1997, including the proposals for the Company's extraordinary general meeting on January 19, 1998.
The remaining 2,277,023 A shares of Tele Danmark A/S (17.4% of the capital and votes) is still held by the Danish state.

Tele Danmark, privatized in April 1994, is the principal provider of domestic and international telephone services, the leading provider of leased lines, and one of two operators of public mobile telephone services in Denmark.
