I am doing no such thing. I'm merely covering all the basis, being thorough, as I have stated more than once during this discussion. It's common sense to look at both costs and benefits of any proposal. As I stated at the outset, the cons of the proposal to ban have been ignored by both those who favor (out of either lack of recognition or willingness to acknowledge) and those who oppose (auto-rejection).

Looking at the pros and cons of a proposal is not the same as looking at the cons of one proposal vs the pros of a counter-proposal.

[I have written before about my experience designing and facilitating meetings for consensus. I was trained by the folks who were with Carter at Camp David. I offer, for free <g>, the first rule, which is that no one can bring a proposal into the room as one does in a negotiation. The parties need to start with a clean sheet of paper. The methodology builds from there. I think that what we have been discussing illustrates why proposals are deadly.]
