Whatever works and you are is in your comfort zone. I do use some software to help monitor the positions and being retired helps. My friend, the analyst / portfolio manager used to recommend OMI. PFE is one of my largest positions so no put writing on that one - maybe a few calls. I have looked at BGS a number of times and never jumped.

Many times I rolled an ITM position and it recovered and then some. Would have been better off just taking the assignment.

You have to be willing to later your tactics based on the market conditions. Sometimes premiums evaporate either on individual stocks, sectors or the market. Them I move funds into higher yielding CEF's, BDC's or REITS.

Every option trade that i execute, I keep track on in a spreadsheet by security. The main objective is to find an easy way to evaluate the individual trades and also track the net premiums received on an ongoing basis. I view the net premiums as a "hedge" when an assignment does occur.
