I don't know if its quite "nothing can be done". More like "there isn't any simple answers". And proposed answers have downsides. Personally I"m more concerned about murder in general than mass shootings. Someone who is murdered with something other than a gun, or who is the only victim on the scene who is shot, is just as dead. And murder and violent crime have generally been declining. Can more be done to encourage that trend? Sure but again its not like there is one or two simple answers with huge positive effects and no downsides.
