You are referring to the Bushmaster ad campaign dating back to early this decade.

I don't believe you can show me where Bushmaster ever used the term assault weapon. That term was created by the Left and was predominantly used by the liberal media. Later, it was adopted for use by legislators. The definition at this time is interesting:

"Assault weapon is a term used in the United States to define some types of firearms. The definition varies among regulating jurisdictions, but usually includes semi-automatic firearms with a detachable magazine and a pistol grip, and sometimes other features such as a flash suppressor or barrel shroud."


So, what we are are talking here is rifles that have a pistol grip, is semiautomatic, and a detachable magazine.


Functionally, put a pistol grip on some deer rifles and you have an assault rifle.
