My wife ate too much after a intestine operation she had - and really got sick! A friend took her to the E-room, she had to wait in line for 7 hours with all the homeless et al, and she got in, now almost feeling OK. Finally the nurse (was the best), next 2 medic students and finally the doc came. Anyway, my wife was now OK, after she finally had to sign up for a $ 500 deposit, and then went home
No up-front payments or refusal of further procedure!
She got an invoice 3 days later, called up with the intention to pay and the guy on the line, surprised as he was, "really, nobody does, if you pay now, I'll give you a 30% discount!!!l. My wife on the phone: "OK, here my credit card nbr, all settled."
A few months later we got a mail from them for 'an unpaid amount of (30%) to be settled immediately. Well, we hade the name of the previous collector and the discount nbr used, gave them that, and left the message, that 'for further communication, please contact our lawyer (name)."
My wife, at that time not a US resident, even though we owned the house, where we lived on our E2 visa, faced no problems of any kind - except for the line of waiting - getting the medical attention she asked for. |
