Free Upgrade Signals Next Step For Web Authoring Environments, Improves Ease of Use
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 8, 1997-- SoftQuad Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of SoftQuad International Inc. (NASDAQ:SWEBF - news; TSE:SKI - news) "...announced today at Fall Internet World that it will add a series of database enhancements to HoTMetaL PRO(r) 4.0, its award-winning Web authoring tool. The upgrade will be available in early 1998 to existing HoTMetaL 4.0 users as a free download at www.softquad.com and will be integrated into the next version of the product.
The upgrade features Live Database Pages (LDP), which leverage the latest Internet technologies Dynamic HTML and XML (Extensible Markup Language), to improve ease of use while offering the user complete
control over formatting. Using LDPs, Web authors can create forms that allow site visitors to enter data, create queries that return data as a table or a single record, and create and manage databases.

The LDP upgrade comes complete with a built-in database engine and server-side middleware or can be used with any ODBC-compliant database, such as Microsoft Access, via Microsoft Active Server Pages
