Answered Jan 22 A while back my wife and I were returning home one Friday night after visiting her sister. We were on a very rural road when three pickups with intoxicated teens surrounded us. You know how it is, just a bunch of good ol boys out having fun and a couple beers. Justletting off a little steam. One truck in front, one in back and one on my side, the drivers side of my car. They had us hemmed in very tightly and were slowing down, apparently trying to get us to pull off or stop on this deserted road. These kids, some of whom looked to be very intoxicated, were laughing and yelling curses at us. One, a boy about 14 or so, jeans and no tee shirt, was leaning out his passenger side door so far I thought he might actually be trying to open MY door. My wife was extremely frightened and was crying by this time. When we finally got down to about 5 MPH I retrieved my pistol, a second hand .45 Combat Commander I had purchased years ago, turned on the inside dome light so the pistol was clearly visible to everyone, and stuck it in the nearest kids face. It was like magic. All three trucks simply disappeared in a cloud of dust sand and loose gravel. Poof! That’s the only time I’ve ever felt the need to display my firearm to anyone, and it worked.

There are several examples among my extended family of crimes being prevented without a shot being fired. Happens a LOT. Guns SAVE lives.
