Quora on liberal intolerance:

Daniel Brookshire

About two years ago, my wife was in an old Chevy S-10 that has been in our family for a generation. It's a 1992 model with 250,000 miles. My grandfather left it to me when he died, and I kept it for sentimental reasons. I drive the thing about once a month. However, on this particular day, my wife's car was in the shop, and she drove it to the hospital to see her sister.
At some point in time, someone had put a bumper sticker on the back of the vehicle. The bumper sticker reads: THE ROAD TO HELL IS PAVED WITH DEMOCRATS. I have no idea where the sticker came from, and I had never really paid it any attention until that day.
My wife had parked in the parking lot, and was getting out of the truck when she noticed a man standing behind the vehicle, apparently, reading the sticker. I guess he didn't agree with it, or see the humor.
"So the road to hell is paved with Democrats?" He sneered. "I guess you plan on voting for Trump, huh?"
My wife told him that she had no idea who she was voting for, but that it probably wouldn't be Hillary.
For some reason, this seemed to set the dude off, and he started giving her an earful about all the wonderful things that the Democrats had done for the nation, and would continue to do if Republicans would just get out of the way.
My wife locked the door and walked away. As she did, the guy told her that she was voting against her own best interest and, when she didn't respond to that, he said something else that sounded like: stupid bitch.
My wife was a little shaken by that last comment, and she had an uneasy feeling about the guy. She came out about an hour later, and found that someone had keyed the vehicle. There was a long gash down the drivers side from the door all the way to the bumper.
It really wasn't that big of a deal. The truck was old as hell, and the paint job wasn't in the greatest of shape. Still, it upset her that someone would do something so crazy, especially over a bumper sticker. She took a picture and sent it to me, and I told her to call the cops.
Well, this was a hospital parking lot. There were surveillance cameras everywhere. The officer got with security, and they pulled the footage on the nearest camera. Sure enough, it was the same guy that my wife had had words with earlier.
He had waited until my wife went inside, then pulled something out of his pocket and deliberately keyed the left side of the truck. Then he had walked over to the elevator, went down to the second floor of the parking garage, and climbed into a brand new, silver Mercedes. The police got the tag number. As it turned out, the guy was a local businessman and, apparently, a staunch supporter of the Democratic Party. I say this because in 2008 he had served as a delegate to the Democratic Convention.

The cops arrested him a few days later. At that point, he became very sorry for his actions, and wanted to make amends. He had the DA contact me, and he offered 500 dollars for my time and trouble. He claimed that he was just having a bad day, and that he was dreadfully sorry for his actions, but I wasn't buying it.
He had done about 2,000 dollars worth of damage to my grandfather's truck, and that constituted a felony. He wanted to plead down to a misdemeanor, but I told them no. I wanted the entire truck painted. For me, it was the principle of the matter. This was something I would never have done to someone's vehicle, and it made me angry that this very "tolerant" liberal thought he could get away with it.
He ended up paying for a new paint job. In addition, he got 60 hours community service, had to pay a 1,000 dollar fine, received two years probation, and had to attend anger management classes.
All of this because he didn't like a damn bumper sticker.
