What was the human doing? Dozing off? When you aren't actually driving, it is all too easy to not pay close enough attention to the road and what is going on. I view Level 2 driving as completely useless except as a test case. Human beings cant pay attention for that long when they dont have control and that is true even when you are paying them. Level 3 is the minimum needed to get widespread use. A quick Google search shows pedestrian/cyclist deaths of 1.25 per 100 million miles driven. Tesla is way over that number for Autopilot but I am sure that their miles dont translate directly to the "average" mile driven by a vehicle. I am guessing humans are driving the Tesla near most pedestrians. Slacker
