Baloney, the Greeks invented civilization, ethics and Republics, not religion, and all the monks did was copy their books. And the Greeks were not that religious. The monks didn't write shit.

If you look around the world today it is the religious countries doing the worst and the non religious countries like the nordic coutnries and much of Europe that are doing best.

Why, you ask, because non religious countries supplanted primitive non democratic ideology with modern democratic ideas and modern understanding of what ingredients are needed for the best society.

That was followed by another 2000 years of Christianity called the Renaissance. That makes Christianity over 4000 years old, which will come as a surprise to most people. I prolly shouldn't tell you that monks kept education alive during the former period, enabling the latter.
