many years ago i was driving home on a two lane road, and i came upon an accident. cars were stopped in and on the side of the road. i noticed a woman standing beside one of the two cars that had collided. she was an employee of mine. her car had sustained a glancing blow on the front side of her car at low speed (maybe 20 or 30 mph??). the other car had come into her lane and hit her car. her knee was injured when it hit something around the steering wheel, etc. i asked her if she was all right and if she needed a ride. her car was still drivable. the man whose car came into her lane and hit her at low speed was a priest at a catholic church down the road. it was clear my just being around him that he had been drinking -- i could smell it. the police were already there, and i asked them if they knew the priest had been drinking -- since this accident was clearly the priest's fault. i asked why they don't give him a breathalyzer test. one of the policemen told me they are not going to arrest a priest for drinking even when he came across into this woman's lane and hit her. selective guilt i suppose.
