Mark,
Now that earnings have been preannounced, won't there have to be a big surprise (beat estimates by a lot) in the real announcement to have any effect on the stock price?
Yes and no. Even till last week, ws was very unforgiving on earnings. That's already built in almost all tech stocks lately. But now ws is chaning its attitude, "Well, close enough unless you missed by miles! Job well done if you met ......" ei, MOT missed by 3 cents and first half '98 won't be rosy due to Asia. Yet, ws likes higher rev than last year. "You did good job under present conditon & 'll be better than any other stock or bond." So it's up 1 1/4+ today. Yocam's preannouncement easied ws' fear about "missed by miles." So, "Well, that's close enough for me."
Aren't we now waiting for the next big announcement (VSGN done deal, major product release BCB3, Q1 results) before we see much increase in the stock price?
VSGN is already built in. We'll see much bigger jump in small caps than large caps in '98! All those cash sitting in the money market and funds have to go some where - value, small cap with 20+% growth. Time to accumulate BORL at this price.
