I don't know exactly what charges they used to convict her, but Martha Stewart was basically busted for insider trading. She had sold a lot the stock in her company based on insider knowledge.

I don't know if it was worth a jail term or not, but when you get somebody I think you have to prosecute. I suspect the jail was a result of her lying to the feds about it.
