That cartoon made me laugh, and bought back memories of California.

I used to work in a plant where there was a relic from WW2. A genuine German submariner that somehow escaped being sunk by the Royal Navy. He had been brought up in the Hitler youth and put into submarines towards the wars end. At that time the "happy times" were over and anyone assigned to submarines had very little chance of surviving even one tour in a submarine. He worked in the plants machine shop. His quality was always excellent, and one had to rely on him for any project that needed special work.

His reputation from WW2 had spread wide because he insisted on accuracy in all matters, and he was at odds with various propaganda issues regarding WW2. He pointed out that German commanders never said "fire torpedoes" as depicted in the many WW2 films about the dastardly Germans, it was "Torpedo Los", and that "Made in Germany" was forced to be printed in ENGLISH on the exported goods that did indeed backfire on the British Empire as it was an excellent mark of quality within a few short years. He always found that little factoid amusing.

Hat tip to "Torpedo Los" Willie if he is still around.

I am of the view that competition is good for you, and that adversity generally improves the human spirit in most circumstances. It's no excuse for genocide though. Co operation is far more important than war now that human population and weaponry have advanced to the current state.

The current (as ggersh calls them "TPTB") leader set with their "prison industrial complex" corporate mindset etc are out of date and due for replacement. A good number of Germans have already tuned into that conclusion.

I wonder where Peter Joseph got the word "Zeitgeist" from ?
