| | | | I was diabetic for about 6 weeks last year. I had an allergic reaction to the Z-Pack, Zithromax and it wrecked havoc with my hormones. My blood sugar sky rocketed and the lab tests showed I was diabetic. During that time I had massive sweats at night. I had to change my T-Shirt three times during the night and the whole sheet got drenched. It was bad. I felt like I had a sore throat, but the doctor said it wasn't sore. After the drug got out of my system, my blood sugar returned to normal, the sweats stopped and the diabetic test showed I was borderline between prediabetic and normal. But I got so scared I never went back to eating bread, pasta, chocolate, ice cream or sweets and cut my fruit intake a little bit. No big deal. My endocrinologist had me on a special diet, which I continued to keep. But now I allow myself a sweet potato stuffed with grilled chicken once a week. Anyway, I have no regrets and like the diet I keep. I don't find it restrictive, just healthy. And I eat a lot of little meals during the day. Fasting is not good for a diabetic. Small meals throughout the day every 2-3 hours are best. |
