Brown rice is better than white rice - though I rarely eat the former. After not eating ice cream for a year, I took a little taste ( fifth of a teaspoon) a few months ago and it tasted like sugar. It is amazing what some things taste like after being away from it for a while.
When I had diabetes, I saw some of my toes get scaly looking and I experienced diabetic nerve pain in my toes when I jogged. That went away after a couple of months.
I got a little taste of what diabetes is like and it is no fun or laughing matter. It is quite serious.
Lentils are one of my best friends. The key is to mix and match. I can eat a peach or some strawberries during the middle of the day if I coat it with a couple of tablespoons of lentils first.
