It's interesting to see you Trumphumpers getting excited over a Wa Post story. But it doesn't say or mean what you dearly hope it does. It's based on what Mueller told President Benedict Arnold's lawyers in early March.

The Washington Post article doesn't say that Trump wasn't under investigation. It explicitly says that he was still under investigation. He's a subject of the investigation and not a criminal target of the investigation. A subject is someone who is being investigated to see whether he committed a crime. A criminal target is someone who you have sufficient evidence on to bring charges against. So all Mueller told Trump is that he doesn't have sufficient evidence to bring charges against Trump yet. But Mueller is still investigating Trump's conduct.

Of course, that was as of early March. Before Gates pleaded guilty to conspiracy against the United States.

Again, this is a reporting of a conversation in early MARCH. If it had meant President Arnold was cleared, he and his lawyers would've been popping champagne corks for the last month. Not resigning (Dowd) and not trying in vain to hire a new lead lawyer (the POTUS).

The most interesting thing in the story is the message that Mueller intends to write a report to Rosenstein, as he is authorized to do. (Rosenstein will pass that report on to Congressional leaders .... not just the Republicans, so Mueller's report will NOT be buried.

So he probably won't be indicting the President himself. He will continue indicting others though.
