Well, from an insiders position I don't think that it would bode well for quantum. I see this as a bit of pressure due to current conditions but not very realistic in the long run. Quantum is a top tier supplier. As such they need to be able to supply a broad range of solutions to their clients. If they can't then eventually they will wither up and die, as will any niche market player. This industry is well past the infant stage and is bound to solidify into just a few solid players and in/out niche players. I think there are certainly
other places where money can be made and I think they/we are expanding into these areas, but the forte is disk drives. You have to consider what would happen if DLT turned out to be a flash in the pan and you
had abandoned the dd biz. There are certainly a LOT more issues that
could be advanced but I don't feel I have the time or in some cases
SHOULD advance them.
