What a neat marketing idea
AMERICAN DREAM WILL BECOME A REALITY FOR ONE LUCKY COUPLE; SERVICE MERCHANDISE WILL AWARD $150,000 TOWARD A HOME PURCHASE
NASHVILLE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 13, 1998--One lucky engaged couple will have one less expense to worry about this year, with the launch of Service Merchandise Company's Dream Home Sweepstakes.
Couples who register their wedding gift registry lists with Service Merchandise before October 15 will receive a "Dream Home" sweepstakes entry for each gift purchase made on their behalf between January 1 and October 31, 1998. The winning couple will receive $150,000 to apply to the purchase of their "Dream Home". The winners will be announced on or around December 31, 1998. Official rules are available at any Service Merchandise store.
"Service Merchandise is the one place couples can get value-priced, name-brand items for all areas of their new life together, including traditional items, like cookware, dinnerware and flatware, as well as non-traditional, like fitness, cameras, and electronics," said Laura Walther, Director of Gift Registry Services. "Our advantage is a depth of selection that you just won't find anywhere else."
Service Merchandise's easy registry system allows couples to register using touch screen kiosks and radio frequency (RF) scanning guns. Registrants immediately get a full print-out of the selected items, as well as announcement cards to inform friends they're registered at Service Merchandise.
Their information is then available at more than 350 Service Merchandise stores nationwide. Real-time updates whenever items are purchased virtually eliminate duplicate gifts. The entire registration procedure can take as little as 20 minutes, with no appointment necessary.
Service Merchandise is the only national retailer from which shoppers can purchase registry gifts from the company's Internet web site, at www.servicemerchandise.com, and have those purchases immediately updated on the recipient's system-wide computer listing. Customers can also shop the registry by visiting a Service Merchandise store or through mail order by calling 800/251-1212.
The registry also offers wish list options for expectant parents and for holiday and other gift-giving occasions. |
