Refugees from Iran have been coming to the US ever since the Shah was removed in 1979 (per google), which is coincidentally when the You Tube shooter was born. So she lived presumably with her family until they got out of Iran.

I recall a company on Stevens Creek Blvd that was called Carpet America. I bought some wall to wall carpet from the back in 1982. That business was Iranian owned. In 2008 when we finally sold our Santa Clara home, the realtor was an Iranian business man. He was a very gregarious guy and thought very highly of himself. I was glad he was our realtor and not negotiating against us. More recently we sold a condo to a young lady medical doctor again in Santa Clara. A couple years back a friend sold his parent's home in Hillsborough again to an Iranian medical doctor and an Iranian engineer couple. So a number of Iranian immigrants have been coming to the bay area over the years. Most are well educated, professional and skilled individuals.

Just another aspect of the world invasion to the US.
