| | | My favorite primary physician quit when Obama care was implemented. She was wonderful and would pass on little hints like "don't eat beans", or "don't eat too much bacon/meat, but don't give it up entirely", but that would pretty much be it.
This is the diet advice that was in the letter to my husband that prompted us to alter our diet. When it came I didn't read it and actually just read it for the first time yesterday. Because of his pre-diabetes he'd been told to reduce carbs, so we discussed it and decided to try the Atkins diet. Well that kind of diet obviously goes against his doctors advice, so we're going to focus more on fiber and vegetables, and reduce our servings of meat protein and also try to eliminate as much fat as possible. I really think one of the keys to good health is reducing the amount of calories we eat and getting regular exercise is also very important imo.
"I would recommend continuing to eat a good diet and to decrease animal fats in your diet in red meats. sausages, bacon and other sources of animal fat in meat products, and also to eat less animal fat in dairy products from milk fat which is in milk that has higher percentages of fat (2%-4%), in cheese, and in creams etc. Continue to eat plenty of fiber in the diet and to exercise regularly."
