I never did discuss her condition with my mother, so I'm pretty ignorant about the side affects of suffering from diabetes. I know seeing the number of pills she had to take and watching her inject herself with insulin was kind of shocking. She never did take good care of herself...........she "drank like a fish and smoked like a chimney"............and after watching her suffer and die a premature death I made a promise to myself and swore I would do better. So far so good. I quit smoking, reduced my drinking (was never a big drinker) and only occasionally have a glass of wine, and am constantly working on finding the right diet. I've always exercised and I've never really been unhealthy (knock on wood three times), and I've always been around the right weight........sometimes overweight, and sometimes not. I'm a boomer, so not so young, but so far I feel good about keeping my promise.

I wish you all the best.
