Trump may prove to be a human random number generator, in which case investment decisions are reduced to Powerball Tickets, although a gold Powerball Ticket might well payoff.

More likely he will negotiate some minor change he can sell to the rubes and declare victory complete with a parade, while giving up something meaningful behind the scenes.

Equity markets often predict more recessions than actually occur, so even if this market rolls over into bear territory I don't necessarily see a full blown recession.

Personally, I expect China to view Trump as a temporary aberration.

Worse case, the problem Trump has is that the American military is currently designed to do two things:

1) respond to a thermonuclear war with the Russians
2) beat up on small countries

#2 hasn't worked well as goat herders in Afghanistan have proven to be unbeatable.

Since China doesn't fall into either 1 or 2, it poses a military challenge. Besides, I don't see the U.S. engaging in a major war with China as it would hurt Wal-Mart. Perhaps a nuclear war against Amazon might be possible....
