If everything went to hell in a handbasket, the best thing to be holding would be unperishable food... You can't eat gold, you've gotta eat to live. But storing and protecting it are a different matter altogeather. It would take a pretty strong disaster to devalue currency to the point where gold would be a good hedge, and there are probably better hedges in that case than gold. Chuck
