I disagree. People can clearly see a lying weasel a mile off and the US isn't going to prosper if we try to be the best lying weasel on the planet. Agreements works when they mutually benefit both parties.

A company lie Chevron is successful because they honor their agreements. When people dealt with me as a representative of that company they knew it was going to be a fair exchange, and bad people knew we'd pursue them to the ends of the Earth if they broke an agreement with us. I think the American nation finds success in much the same way.
