The Diabetes Counter by Nolan and Heslin recommends three main meals and two snacks a day. They recommend eating a protein with a fat for your snack, thus my apple a day habit. 1/2 apple and either 1/4 cup mixed nuts, or 1 oz of cheese. Very filling and satisfying. I suppose I could have any type of fruit if I wished, but there is something about an apple I find very appealing. It's easy to find fruit, but hard to find nuts on cruises so we always bring our own. ;)

My biggest obstacle is that I don't drink enough water. I think I'm drinking maybe 12 oz daily...........that's not enough..............and we have some of the best water in the world right here.
