No, an educated populace can overcome all of that. Civilized behavior always comes down to education. History is very clear about that. Morality is something that has to be "understood"! As well as the path to morality. And it doesn't lie in the church, it lies in the classroom.

Look at how Japan recovered after WWII. They were 85 million people in 1950 living on a rock, with few natural resources, a language no one can speak, and had just been fire bombed into oblivion.

Yet just 30 years later they had the second largest GDP in the world and guess who had third , Germany another county devastated by war.

And what was the common variable. Education. Both countries were the educational super stars of the world. And both counties adapted to democracy at warp speed.

And recently South Korea duplicated their feat. 30 million people who had a third world economy on a par with North Korea and a dictatorship 50 years ago. And they are even more educational warriors than Japan and Germany. Today they have a vibrant democracy and the 11th largest GDP in the world.

And last the Jews, history's original educational warriors. Went to a desert 70 years ago and turned it into a garden and with only 8 million people fought off 100 million Arabs and Persians in 1967 from most ME countries determined to destroy them and drive them into the sea and today is 25th in GDP.

And then of course the ancient Greeks-lol!
