Well Josh, unfortunately I can't offer much insight because she pretty much eats what she wants when we go out. She does try to limit her intake of white, flour, sugar and pasta, much like myself, but she is better at it than I. We look at dining out as a special dispensation from the norm because you don't have as much control over what you eat as much as you do at home where you know what all the ingredients are.

My wife wears an insulin pump that is set up to deliver whatever amounts are necessary through different times of the day to keep her blood sugars as normal as possible. It gives her more at meal times to compensate for the extra sugar intake we get as our bodies process food. Still, as far as technology has come, it's not a perfect system. Her blood sugar can be hard at times to control. We think that her pancreas is producing some insulin, but it is not a consistent amount on a daily basis so setting up the insulin delivery system through the pump is not an exact science.

Looks like I drifted away from your question a bit, but she has been tweaking her diet over the years in a lot more healthy direction, except for the damned chocolate! I guess we're allowed one vice, aren't we?
