I hope you've confessed your crush on Cusack's girlfriend in High Fidelity to your wife, Chris. You'll feel better if you do.

I've continued watching discs from netflix . . . the movie I enjoyed most was The Disaster Artist even though I'm generally not a fan of James Franco. It's a very funny movie about the making of a horrible movie, and it won't hurt if you watch at least a little of the horrible movie first.

Of course, Three Billboards and lady Bird are wonderful.

It's not all that compelling because we know what's going to happen, but the Darkest Hour is such an excellently made film. The acting is great, and the lighting, cinematography, editing, the whole choreography of the movie is beautiful.

I know it's pc incorrect to say so, but I enjoyed Woody Allen's "Wonder Wheel." It's more of an off-Broadway play than a movie and I suppose it's weak Tennessee Williams, but Allen's writing is insightful and Kate Winslet gives a stirring performance.

Suburbicon is eminently watchable. Written by the Coen Bros and directed by G Clooney (Rosemary's son), it's not their best but it's fun.

Mother!, dir by Aronofsky and starring Jennifer Lawrence, is a terrible movie, but I liked it. It's perverse.

I'm still enjoying Houston and I'm glad I moved here, but I know the Summer and the unbearable heat and humidity is looming in my future.
