Well, I know you have years of experience that is closer to that situation I could ever be. And I think what you're talking about applies perfectly for her demand for a particular cell phone that NSA said could not be brought up to spec (Blackberry?). Then she demanded one because Obama had it, and NSA essentially had to build one from scratch at substantial cost for a one-off. That was weird, and I can imagine it with the president.

But I just can't really envision a Sec/State getting involved by saying, "I want my email to come to a server in a broom closet at a facility I control, and I'll get my own IT people to check it out." To me, blinking red lights, horns, and flares start going off with that.

While I'll defer to you on it, it still doesn't make sense to me and justifies a pretty serious double-take.
