That is not a good thing, in any sense of the word. Other than maybe for the victim (the attorney).

Over-broad warrants are a product of over-zealous prosecutors who have nothing to begin with. And some or all of what was obtained could well be suppressed at trial. And if it isn't, it could be yet another black mark against the judiciary for the expansion of free-form warrants that has grown so popular as a result of the War on Drugs.

A warrant that is "striking in its breadth" is essentially a fishing expedition and it is not something Americans ought to be proud of. It is as anti-American as anything I can think of.

Of course, given the source, who knows whether that is true or not.
