Offer 3Com Network Ready PCs

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 13, 1998--Applied Computer
Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ: ACTI), a high-quality provider of complete,
customized information system solutions to businesses, institutions and public
organizations, today announced it is the newest partner in the 3Com Network
Ready(TM) Program.
Through this relationship, Applied Computer Technology (ACT) will offer
desktop
and server systems with a 3Com(R) network interface already installed and
configured, so businesses can benefit from a PC that is ready to connect to
the
network right out of the box.
Applied Computer Technology will test and certify compatibility of 3Com's
EtherLink(R)XL and Fast EtherLink XL network interface cards with the
company's complete line of workstations and servers. This process ensures that
all
3Com networking products are custom configured for optimum performance so
that Applied Computer Technology can quickly deliver a 3Com Network Ready
system to their customers. In addition, Applied Computer Technology and 3Com
will conduct co-marketing activities designed to build awareness of its 3Com
Network Ready systems among the company's key markets including small and
medium-sized businesses, institutions and government organizations.

contract received from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in October

Through this contract, Applied Computer Technology will be able to effectively
deliver 3Com Network Ready systems, as well as other 3Com products, and its
entire line of computer products to all federal government agencies via the
NIH's
Electronic Computer Store II, bypassing the extensive, and expensive, bidding
process.
