I decided to look up what kind of nuts were good for a squirrel, and pine nuts were the only nut that is recommended. I just happened to have an old bag of them in the fridge, so every once in awhile I put a few out.

Douglas squirrels are really fearless. Rocky jumped on me when I was sitting in a chair out in the yard last summer. He has extremely long, sharp claws. Kind of scared me. g

Unlike the Easter Gray Squirrel, Douglas squirrels are indigenous to the PNW.

Even though we don't have Pine trees here, they are known as the Pine Squirrel or Chickaree.
