Well I browsed the wiki article on him, and what jumps out is exactly that, he seems to have written lots of books with a certain bent, but what is pretty much totally lacking is any reference to major theoretical work he did. It doesn't appear that he contributed in any major way to any fundamental theories in any field. Yet per the wiki article, his fans consider him one of the most brilliant minds in multiple fields and well deserving of a Nobel.
