Unfortunately, Pierre. You might have to wait for the SUN home
boxes. The machines based on UltraSparcs are slated to be
for engineering/science/financial/design workstations only.

However, the home workstations will be the Java station which
probably won't appear for another two years.

Otho, I'd never unestimate the resourcefulness of computer
enthusias/hackers to product all kinds of useful productive
applications for the low cost Solaris boxes.

You've got to admire SUNW's "take it to 'em" approach. While the industry
debates NT moving upscale, SUNW introduces cheaper desktop UNIX
workstations and upscale PCs.

Next question - when can a non-technical user put a Darwin on his desk and
run a full complement of software. I know java promises "run anywhere" but
that's not here yet. Is x-windows or some such emulator now a realistic option
for a UNIX home / office PC? I'm sick of hearing myself whine about Windows.
Can I now do something about it? TIA.

Pierre
