Honestly, to a person of reasonable intellect, it doesn't take long to see what a terrible, terrible deal that was. Only an idiot would have done it.

In fact, it can be described as "utterly incompetent in every respect." And I don't really know of anyone I respect who sees it differently. (Bob Gates, for whom I have great admiration, has said he would not "undo" the deal at this point but he made clear he thought it was a bad deal to begin with). Condi Rice referred to it as a deal to destabilize the Middle East, which is correct. Kissinger believes it was a horrible deal but that ending it now doesn't make it better.
