Fred, do you know when SGI is bringing out their new line of workstations? I know there have been delays.
I am relieved to hear that their computer architecture is compatible. I thought it would be. Otherwise, I doubt SGI would have bought Cray.
What I've read in the paper is that there is a worry the corporate officers from Minnesota might not get along with the California crowd.
I have been to Minneapolis and although the winters are extremely cold, the city is a neat place. Cray is not located in Minneapolis. I am not sure where it is.
What SGI should do is fly the Minneapolis executives and their families to Los Angeles. Take them out to Venice, put them on roller skates or bikes. They could also play volley ball. Perhaps later, a picnic on the beach followed by stroll through Venice. After that experience, Cray's people should feel relaxed and laid back, and understand California culture quite well.
Actually, I think when their new product line comes out, the stock will probably take off, providing there is anyone left who wants to buy technology stocks. Friday's technology performance was not exactly reassuring.
Best wishes, |
