That's a good example of Jordan Peterson's commentary on power and 'being dangerous' rather than competence. Outright power is okay, but it doesn't actually achieve anything positive in the absence of outright evil. Simply bossing people around is no way to co-operate and make things great. Big shots tend to think they are so great that they get to rule at whim and simply take stuff.

The beauty of democracy is that that is kept slightly in check, but not much because the electorate knows they can vote to boss people around and take their stuff.

Tradable Citizenship is the way around the limitation - so that thieving evil electorates will soon see that they are voting themselves into destruction. People who oppose the decline can sell up and bail out.
