It is not just an age thing.. It is an experience thing also.. Far too many of those older workers were overpaid one trick ponies.. An entrepreneur type can always get a job.. I agree with most of RB's post however he too is misssing the effect of automation... Tech in general and AI going forward on jobs and society.. Better jobs initially.. But fewer.. And job demand drives down wages.. Again entrepreneurs will flourish..
