ZTE and Huawei are now free to compete while finally having to spend to do their own R&D instead of lifting the IP from US companies and using it in their own closed market - It was a travesty that they have been able to this and even get US government contracts selling our own stolen IP back to us and creating price destruction at the same time for US vendors- All of their businesses have to go the crony communist party for approval, so no US companies can bid on China Unicom contracts- I believe that the lower cost / tax structure for producing components in China eventually backfires when they learn how to produce the components and start producing them themselves - Combined with lifted IP and experience in building networks in the US, they use the West as a laboratory to discover what works and then simply go about replicating it domestically- I am all for free markets and would love to see a level playing field of competition, but US vendors have been getting punked by ZTE and Huawei- I am not holding my breath that the pressure will open Chinese markets, but at least they wont be getting their cake and eating it too at our expense-
