4/20/2018 Contest update
In response to a reporter’s question earlier this week, U.S. Ambassador to the U.N., Nikki Haley, declared; “I don’t get confused.” Presumably, Ambassador Haley doesn’t follow the stock market.
At Friday’s close, following this week’s bewildering price swings, the Contest median was up 9.57% YTD (vs. up 12.83% YTD a week ago), the Nasdaq Biotech Index (NBI) was down -1.68% YTD (vs. down -0.79% YTD a week ago), the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index (SPSIBI) was up 4.70% YTD (vs. up 5.51% YTD a week ago), with the Nasdaq Composite Index (IXIC) up 3.52% YTD (vs. up 2.94% YTD a week ago).
Despite sustaining a 7% downturn, AKOFNY’s portfolio, up 49.09% YTD, held the Contest lead, with SPTAD’s portfolio, up 39.31% YTD and RKRW’s portfolio, up 35.71% YTD, remaining in second and third place.
At Friday's close, 48 of the 62 Contest portfolios were in the green, with 52 beating the NBI and 40 beating the SPSIBI.
The 230 Contest stock picks have an average YTD gain of 6.99% and median YTD gain of 0.78%, with 116, about half, showing a gain for the year.
