Trump is mindlessly Tweeting every knee-jerk applause-line he can think of — and Trump knows US consumers want cheap welfare-gasoline — in exactly the same way billionaire and millionaire farmers in California want cheap taxpayer-funded welfare-water. - Message 31554601 - Message 31575278

China knows that while most Californians voted against Trump, California farmers voted for him. So China has made sure California farmers are suffering under the tariffs sparked by Trump's lose-lose trade war. Many farms have also experienced losing most of their farm workers during harvest to ICE raids leading to lost harvests.

As a payback to farmers in California Trump is supposedly lining up a sweet deal to buy water at market rates from the Southern California Metropolitan Water District's proposed delta project and hand it out to farmers for 90% less than cost, courtesy of the federal taxpayer. This is the water-project California agricultural Water Districts voted against funding because they're not used to paying the actual cost for delivered water.

It's not economically rational. It's infantile populist bullshit. But it's the sort of bullshit Trump specializes in and has personally benefited from.

These same California agricultural Water Districts which voted against the Delta Water Project have all these signs along Interstate-5 complaining that the lack of Congressionally-funded welfare-water is leaving areas of the Central Valley without water-rights as a "dust bowl" which could be dream-farms if only Trump hands out free water he buys from the $18 billion Delta Project farmers didn't want to help pay for.
