Some years ago there was a proposal to lay a pipe along the Ocean shore all the way north of Crescent city. Gathering a small portion of water from each inflow to the salt chuck. Allowing some water to still enter the ocean would protect the local plant environment.

The amount of water which was estimated to be collectible would fill a 24 ft flowing pipe and would have been more than enough to supply the total farm needs. It was suggested at the same time John McCain proposed buying the top two feet of high water on Williston lake BC and building an aqueduct to take it to California. But Californians said both were to expensive.

Yes it would cost a lot. But there would no longer be a water shortage. Williston Lake is 180 miles long by 60 width at it's widest point. Two flood control dams and it still has flooding down stream. A third dam (Site C) is under construction. Electricity generation other than that the Peace river just dumps into the Arctic Ocean.
