How do you explain the balanced budgets after Clinton raised taxes

I've already explained it to you. It wasn't mostly from the tax increase. That played a part but you had the dotcom bubble generating extra tax revenue, the peace dividend/slashing of the size of the US military, and you had a new Republican congress that actually worked hard to contain spending (which sadly most of the Republicans in congress have moved away from except as a matter of rhetoric). And it was a temporary condition. If taxes were never cut you still would have had large deficit later on.
