Analyst Actions: RBC Capital Maintains Sector Perform, US$11 TP on Blackberry

02:15 PM EDT, 04/25/2018 (MT Newswires) -- RBC Capital says it attended BlackBerry's analyst summit yesterday. The event offered no new flashy headlines, but did show that BlackBerry's EoT (enterprise of things) strategy is coming to fruition in a number of areas. Long-term upside may stem from new emerging markets.

BlackBerry is also finding opportunities to upsell and cross-sell adjacent software into its install base. Examples include crisis communications (AtHoc), BlackBerry Bridge (container for MS Office), and DRM (WatchDox).

BlackBerry expects automotive revenue to rise from US$45 million/quarter currently to low US$50 million/quarter H2/FY19. Management believes automotive growth is likely to accelerate in FY20 and FY21 due to design wins and as auto OEMs rollout next-gen cars. Competition concerns appear overdone, notes RBC.

The company also clarified that it expects double-digit software revenue FY19E, in addition to double-digit billings growth.

Maintain Sector Perform, US$11 TP -- "We believe near-term opportunities are priced into the stock."
