The court approved 71 percent of surveillance applications submitted under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) in 2017, according to a report from the Administrative Office of the United States Courts. That’s down significantly from the 79 percent approved in 2016. The number of applications declined 8.5 percent, from 1,752 in 2016 to 1,614 the following year.
