It isn't so much that they are wrong. Because actual facts aren't what they are interested in. What they are interested in is crafting their own reality. They have spent decades doing that. Karl Rove made it clear, he divided the political spectrum into the reality based community and the faith based one. And was fairly disparaging of those who insisted there was a reality based on facts as opposed to the one they were creating.

I dunno if you read 1984, but Orwell put that approach at the heart of Big Brother's government. And Orwell modeled that after the old Soviet Union. As I mentioned during the Dubya administration, it is like they saw the novel 1984 and instead of taking it as a cautionary tale, decided to use it as a how-to manual.

And here we are, in a post-reality world. Facts are just reality's opinions. And anyone's opinions are just as good as anyone else's. Reality is what you claim it to be. There is no objective measure. The Soviets perfected this form of propaganda and our Right has adopted many of the techniques. Because they work. It also makes the Russian masters of the form to be natural allies.

And here we are.
