We're spending more on the military now than we spent during the Cold War. The USSR fell in 1991. Military spending was $500 billion (a good chunk of that was pure waste. Under Carter, Ford, and Nixon it was far lower, in the $300 billion area).

Today, military spending is closer to $700 billion. 54% of the budget is military spending. They're not fiscal conservatives. They're power shoppers who spend money that hasn't been created yet. Then they cut taxes so they can bankrupt us faster.
