Yes because entitlements are worthwhile programs that help the people.

An idea which is relevant if were discussing "should we have entitlements" or perhaps "should we have this particular list of programs" where the list is of actual entitlement programs or at least contains them.

Not so much when the point is about where the money was spent. The increase in government spending over the years didn't go to defense, it went to entitlements. You can argue that's a good thing, my point is meerly that its a true thing. I'm describing what happened not making judgements on it here. Good or bad or indifferent it happened that way and is still happening that way.
